The short answer

Who can be a dependent on the SRRV, and what does each one cost?

Your legal spouse and unmarried children under 21 can join as SRRV dependents. The deposit certificate covers the principal plus two dependents; from the third dependent on, each one adds to the bank deposit, carries its own application fee, and raises the annual fee. That third-dependent rule is what moves a family budget, so we map it before you commit.

Who counts

PRA recognizes two kinds of dependents on the SRRV (Special Resident Retiree’s Visa): your legal spouse, and unmarried children under 21 at the time of application, legitimate or legally adopted. Dependents can join your initial application or be added after approval.

Parents, siblings, married children, and children 21 and older do not ride on the visa. They need their own immigration path, and we say so up front because finding out at filing is expensive.

The third-dependent rule

The visa deposit certificate covers the principal plus two dependents. From the third dependent on, each adds $15,000 to the deposit (waived for former Filipinos). Separately, every joining dependent pays a $300 application fee, and each dependent beyond two adds to the annual fee: $10 per head on Courtesy, $100 on Classic.

A spouse and two children fit inside the base deposit. A spouse and three children trigger the rule twice. The family size question is worth settling before anything is wired, which is exactly what the screening is for.

Worked example

Classic pensioner couple, 60, with three dependents

Classic pensioner deposit
$15,000
Third-dependent deposit
$15,000
PRA processing fee
$1,500
Dependent fees, 3 x $300
$900
First-year PRA annual fee
$460
Government total at filing
$32,860

The deposit inside that total stays yours: held at a PRA-accredited bank in your name and returned on visa cancellation per PRA rules.

Each dependent’s document file

Every document issued outside the Philippines must be in English or translated, and apostilled or authenticated by a Philippine Embassy or Consulate. The full apostille walkthrough lives on the documents page.

Names must match

PRA reads names letter by letter across passports, certificates, and bank papers. A maiden name on a marriage certificate that does not match the passport is a preventable delay; we reconcile the file before filing.

Family math:Settled before filing

The Military and Veteran Family Package runs the dependent workflows end to end. Start with the screening.

SRRV Courtesy qualification is determined by the Philippine Retirement Authority on the documents. Many US military retirees may qualify; others fit SRRV Classic. We screen both routes before you commit, and we will tell you plainly if the SRRV is not your best option.
