What you are paying for.DIY, a marketer, or GoSRRV
No one requires you to pay for SRRV help. PRA lets you apply yourself by walk-in. The honest question is not whether you must pay, it is whether you want it screened, veteran-specialized, and done right with less risk.
The short answer
Do you even need to pay for SRRV help?
No. PRA accredits marketers as optional third parties. Applicants may apply directly; no government requires you to use an agent. You can walk into PRA and file it yourself, and that route is free and legitimate. The question is not whether you must pay, it is whether you want the route screened first, the veteran-specific facts read correctly, and the filing done right with less risk of an expensive mistake.
The honest premise
Help is optional, and we will say so first
We are not going to pretend you are trapped. PRA accredits marketers as optional third parties. Applicants may apply directly; no government requires you to use an agent. The do-it-yourself walk-in route is a real option, it is free of any service fee, and for an applicant with a clean, obvious case it can be the right call. We would rather tell you that up front than sell you a service you did not need.
What you are paying for, when you pay GoSRRV, is not access. It is a read of the documents before you commit, a veteran-specialized screening you will not get from a general intake, and a filing handled with discipline so a non-refundable fee is never spent on the wrong route. If you want to weigh that against the free route honestly, the why we screen first page lays out exactly what screening checks and what it cannot promise.

Three ways to get it done
Side by side
Three legitimate ways exist to reach an SRRV: do it yourself by walk-in, hire a typical accredited marketer, or use GoSRRV. Here is the honest difference, row by row.
| Dimension | Do it yourself | Typical marketer | GoSRRV |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who decides your route | You guess, from forums and PRA pages, with no one to check your reading. | They package what you ask for; the route you walked in naming is usually the route you leave with. | We screen both routes neutrally and tell you plainly if the SRRV is not your best option. |
| Veteran-specific screening | None. Nothing about your DD-214, your pension, or your VA and TRICARE picture is read for you. | Generic. The same intake a retiree from anywhere gets, with no read of military income proof. | DD-214 with honorable discharge, the at-least-$1,000-per-month pension gate, and how your VA, TRICARE, and FMP picture reads to PRA. |
| The cost of guessing wrong | Yours alone. The $1,500 PRA processing fee is non-refundable if an application is discontinued, and a wire to the wrong bank or a stale-rule error costs weeks. | The same non-refundable $1,500 fee if the route was wrong; the incentive is to file, not to slow you down. | We read the documents before you commit a dollar, so the discontinued-application risk is screened out before any government fee is paid. |
| What is included | Your own time, your own document chase, and the in-person steps with no one coordinating them. | Filing of the package you bought, scoped to that package. | Screening of both routes, document discipline, filing coordination through our PRA-accredited marketer partner, and on-the-ground support. |
| Transparency on price | Free by law. PRA accredits marketers as optional third parties, so the only money is the government fees and the deposit. | Quote-gated. The service fee usually arrives after the intake call, not before. | Published fixed fees. The session price and the done-for-you tiers are on the pricing page. |
| The guarantee | None. No one stands behind your reading of the rules. | None of substance, and never an approval; no one can promise that. | Our service and accuracy guarantee on our own work, with the honest limit that no one can guarantee a PRA approval. |
Government figures are PRA’s, from our verified facts library; our fees are published in full on the pricing page. The guarantee row links to the service guarantee in full.

The objection
Why a free quote can cost you
Here is the part the market does not advertise. Accredited marketers are often paid by commission tied to PRA, which means the incentive is to sell the visa, not to tell you the SRRV is the wrong move. That is not a character flaw, it is the structure: a route that earns nothing is a route no commission-paid intake is built to recommend.
GoSRRV is built the other way around. The $99 strategy session is a paid read of your situation, credited toward any package, so the only thing it is built to optimize is giving you the right answer. If that answer is the do-it-yourself walk-in, or SRRV Classic instead of Courtesy, or no SRRV at all, you have already paid for the honesty and lost nothing. The done-for-you tiers above the session are published in full, never quote-gated.
The incentive, stated plainly
A commission-paid intake earns when you file. We earn when you are screened correctly, which is why screening comes first and why we will route you to the free walk-in if that is your honest fit.

Who screens your file
Veteran run, lawyer managed
Veteran run. Lawyer managed. Philippines based. The facts on this site are reviewed against the official PRA, VA, TRICARE, and DFAS sources by Adam Juchniewicz, LL.M., European and Comparative Law, University of Malta. That is the trust basis behind the veteran-specific screening: a law-trained founder checking the published facts against their primary sources, not a sales script.
To be clear about what that is and is not: it is a credential and an editorial review of facts, not licensed Philippine legal advice. Foreigners can own condominium units in the Philippines; land ownership is restricted, with narrow exceptions best handled by counsel. We refer property questions to licensed Philippine attorneys. The difference between a typical marketer and GoSRRV is not access to PRA, which the walk-in route already gives you. It is whether the person reading your DD-214, your pension proof, and the $800-and-up income picture knows the veteran facts cold and is paid to read them honestly.
What no one can guarantee
No one can guarantee that the Philippine Retirement Authority will approve an application, and anyone who tells you otherwise has not read the rule. PRA decides every case on the documents. What we guarantee is our work, not their decision.

Decide honestly
Which one is your fit
Do it yourself
A clean, obvious case, time to chase documents, and comfort reading PRA rules directly. It is free of any service fee and entirely legitimate, and we will point you to the routes and the official sources so you can.
A typical marketer
You already know your exact route, you want the filing handled, and you are comfortable with a quote-gated fee and a generic, non-veteran intake. It works for the straightforward case where the route is not in question.
GoSRRV
You want the route screened first, the veteran facts read by someone who knows them, published fixed fees, and a service guarantee behind the work. Start with the two-minute screener.

Before you spend a dollar:Get screened first
The two-minute screener gives you a probable route under current PRA rules. The $99 session, credited toward any package, confirms it in writing.
SRRV Courtesy qualification is determined by the Philippine Retirement Authority on the documents. Many US military retirees may qualify; others fit SRRV Classic. We screen both routes before you commit, and we will tell you plainly if the SRRV is not your best option.
